‘Twas the night before a crisis, and all through the abode,
\nNot a sound could be heard, on the perilous road.
\nThe emergency bags were prepped, aligned with precision,
\nIn the hopes that calm would guide the impending mission.<\/p>\n
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
\nWhile visions of happy trails danced in their heads.
\nMom in her helmet, and I in my cap,
\nHad just settled our brains for a short little nap.<\/p>\n

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
\nI sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.<\/p>\n
The moon shone down on the new-fallen snow,
\nThe magic of the season shadowed below.
\nWhen, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
\nBut a furry response team, full of great cheer.<\/p>\n

With a leader so lively, organized, and quick,
\nI knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
\nMore rapid than eagles, the volunteers they came,
\nAnd he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:<\/p>\n
Now, First Aid! On, Shelter! Now, Food and Supplies!
\nOn, Communications! Now, Search and Rescue! On, Survival Guide!
\nTo the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
\nNow dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!<\/p>\n

Who’s There?<\/h4>\nSo up to the rooftop, the rescuers they flew,
\nWith a sleigh full of supplies, and St. Nicholas too.<\/p>\n
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof,
\nThe prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
\nAs I drew in my head, and was turning around,
\nDown the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.<\/p>\n
He was dressed in protective gear, from his head to his toe,
\nAnd his outfit was marked with a reflective glow.
\nA bundle of tools he had flung on his back,
\nAnd he looked like a scout, just opening his pack.<\/p>\n
Santa left in his wake, a bag full of gear,

\nA flashlight to pierce through the blackest of nights,
\nAnd a radio, crackling with vital insights.<\/p>\n
A first aid kit stocked with bandages and wraps,
\nTo tend to each injury, big or perhaps
\nwater bottles filled, with a purifying touch,

\nTo sustain them through challenges, unchanged.
\nA map of the region, with routes to evade,
\nAnd a compass to guide when the GPS might fade.<\/p>\n
A multi-tool for tasks, versatile and grand,
\nIn Santa’s preparedness, they’d understand.<\/p>\n

He was focused and firm, a committed old elf,
\nAnd I sighed with relief, in spite of myself.
\nA nod of his head, a salute with his hand,
\nSoon gave me to know we were safe in the land.<\/p>\n
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
\nHe gestured to chimney, away he then rose.<\/p>\n
